Blackouts are complete power outages caused by things like storms or downed power lines. If you experience a blackout, it’s important that you wait until power is fully restored before resetting your AC unit. Resetting it too soon could damage the compressor.

How to reset your Air Conditioning System

What if my AC Unit doesn’t have a reset button?

First, check to see if there is a switch near the compressor unit that says “on” or “off.” If the switch is in the “off” position, turn it to “on.”
If there is no switch near the compressor unit, locate the fuse box and check to see if the fuse associated with your AC unit has blown. If it has, replace it with a new fuse and see if that does the trick.
